Devil's claw (Harpagophytum procumbens DC) is useful for diseases of the musculoskeletal system, the digestive system and autoimmune diseases. The root of the hookworm contains active substances such as: iridoid glycosides harpagoside, harpagid procumbide, verbascoside, isoacteoside, triterpenes (oleanolic acid), flavonoids (quercetin, kaempferol, luteolin), phytosterols (including beta-sitosterol), waxes, fats, phenolic acids. Devil's claw has anti-inflammatory, antirheumatic, analgesic, stimulating the secretion of digestive juices, improving digestion, antiarthritic and choleretic properties.

This plant has a supportive and preventive effect on rheumatic diseases, arthritis, muscle and joint pain, joint inflammation, stomach acidity, bile flow disorders, liver inflammation, inflammation of tendons and ligaments, sports injuries, neuralgia, allergies, autoimmune diseases (autoimmunity, psoriasis), chronic eye and ear diseases caused by bacterial infections.
